Sasha was (officially Kolkata) founded in 1978 in Calcutta, the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. The organization wants to support on the basis of the principles of Fair Trade in the development dividend exploiting tu quan ao labor communities to get through their skills and their creativity to express themselves, recognition tu quan ao and achieve self-realization. Sasha puts great emphasis on design and fits into its products, traditional handicrafts and regional materials to the contemporary tu quan ao living conditions in India and internationally, so that the products of its kind to be unique. The products of artisans and artists will be considered both as goods that are produced market and export-oriented and be developed into a sustainable source of income. On the other hand, these products are part of the cultural heritage of India, which receives more attention increasingly. So new markets at home and abroad will be opened on one side and the producers over the (international) sensitized market conditions, while the customers will be informed about the cultural value of the arts and crafts on the other side. Accordingly, tu quan ao the product design is never the producers "from above" imposed but developed in close cooperation. In this way, the authenticity of crafts can be ensured. The range of products manufactured and marketed by Sasha article is composed of textiles (jute, leather and natural fibers), metalwork (eg silver jewelry), food products, cosmetic products, plant-based, home-accessories (such as placemats) and ceramics.
