The scores varied from 68.5 to 77.5 out of a maximum 83 points so there was not much to separate the 8 teams that took part. The time taken varied between I hour 11 minutes and 2 hours 6 minutes (but they did miss out the page relating to the Railway be n10 Station and had to retrace their steps doh!) First prize of a 20 voucher towards a meal at the Fighting Cocks went to Jan Gilham s The Sundays ; Dan Urry s PikieVille Pirates came a close second with 76 points, winning a tin of Quality Street to share. Last place went to the aptly named Dumb & Dumber (Ginny & Graham Lloyd) who won a map of Shanklin each and a box of Shanklin Fudge . Emma Cooke judged the team name and chose Julie Proud s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly no-one be n10 knows which one is which!! Prizes and complementary drinks were provided by CSSC and Hassra and the day raised 46 for Charity CSSC have not yet nominated a charity to support this year and will ask members for nominations of their favourite local charity. be n10 As there were quite a few people unable to make it on the day who wanted to take part, we have decided to run it again on Sunday 18th October at 11am. Ghost Walk A clear Monday evening saw 21 of us join in with others at Ventnor Botanical be n10 Gardens for a very enjoyable and scary ghost walk. IOW Ghost Walks hosted the event and Marc Tuckey began by telling us all about the history of the Botanical Gardens site, the TB hospital that was situated there and the spooky goings on that have happened ever since .. We then began a tour around parts of the gardens with scary Grumblers jumping out at us every few minutes! More ghost stories were told along the way, along with interesting historical facts about the area and after an hour or so we ended back at the car park to drive off home trying not to take a Grumbler or two who had jumped into our cars whilst we weren t looking! Contact Anne or Helen for further details The Huge Hospice Quiz Another quiz, but not hosted by CSSC, is one that is held every year, run by hospice volunteers, to raise money for the IOW Hospice. This year it is on Thursday 12th November at Lower Hyde, Shanklin. Teams are a maximum of 4 and the entry cost is 20.00 per team ( 5pp). Each team is also asked to bring along a tombola prize. CSSC has agreed to support the quiz this year by offering to subsidise the cost of entry for CSSC members up to a total of 125.00.
