Venezuelan new car sales are back in shape in April, up a very robust 29% year-on-year to 12,764 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 38,403 units, still down 11% on 2012 however. For once, the models ranking is relatively stable this month, indicating the market may have found its cruising rhythm for the year. The Chevrolet Aveo is head and shoulders above the competition once again with 1,393 sales and 10.9%, ahead of the Ford Fiesta at 898 units and the Mitsubishi Lancer at 890, both models grabbing a 7% market share.
In 4th place with 805 sales and 6.3% share we find the DongFeng S30 and I have made it the star of the month because Venezuela accomplishments is one of the first countries in the world with potentially Ukraine where a Chinese model has managed to consistently rank with the big boys. This is the S30's 5th consecutive month within the Venezuelan Top 5, and it ranks #2 so far in 2013 at 2,571 units and 6.7% share. Further down, notice also the Chevrolet Orlando up 18 spots on March to #20.
